Public money should be easy to find. So we built the ledger.

Every year, public bodies publish thousands of funding calls for companies, researchers, nonprofits and public bodies. The information is public by law. Finding it is not: it sits in 23 portals, in 20 languages, with no common format and no history. Consultants charge thousands of euros a month to read it. Closed tools charge a subscription to search it. We think the reading should be free, and we had the tools to make it so.

We are a small software studio in Europe. We build products that help people do real things: run events, ship software, find their way through paperwork. grantledger started as a weekend question, "why is there no open list of all this?", and became the thing we wished existed when we applied for our own grants. We run it on a few euros of cloud a month and we keep it open on purpose.

What it is

• An open ledger: 292,007 records from official sources in 23 feeds, one schema, every change kept, every record linked to its publisher.
• A screening tool: fixed rules on country, region, entity type, sector, instrument and deadline, with the rule written next to every verdict.
• A readiness checklist and a negative memo per call, so you know what a clean application needs and what a wrong route would cost you.
• Open source (MIT) and open data (CC0). Verify it, reuse it, add your country, or run your own copy.

What it is not

• Not a startup looking for a market. A transparency tool that happens to be useful.
• Not a consultancy. We do not write applications and we do not take a percentage.
• Not an AI product. Models fill forms and extract fields from official text, offline. No model decides a verdict.
• Not an official source. Eligibility is always decided by the funder. We link to the call text so you can check.

Money

The ledger and the screening are free and stay free. If a paid layer ever exists, it sits after the free verdict, on work that costs work: drafting an application, monitoring a portfolio of calls for an incubator, an API with guarantees. The data stays exportable, the code stays open.
